The last two images "Rheostat", and "Mine Elevator Cable" are from a portfolio on the West Coast's best known and well preserved gold mining ghost town, Bodie. Calfornia. The original photographic enlargements are black and white images. These are created from 4 by 5 negatives in the West Coast black and white photographic tradition using the "ZONE" system established by Ansel Adams. The work is also influenced by the f 64 group with photographers such as Edward Weston, Minor White, and others. Although originally printed in a "wet" darkroom, these images have been photographed, scanned and adjusted for digital output using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe ImageReady, and Macromedia's Fireworks for web preparation. "Rheostat", and "Mine Elevator Cable" are used as the background images in the composites that comprise the banner graphics on each page of this web site.
